WAREG is the association of European public authorities responsible for regulating drinking water and/or wastewater services. It promotes cooperation, exchange of knowledge, and alignment of regulatory approaches to improve the quality, efficiency, affordability, and sustainability of water services. WAREG supports its members in addressing challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, and infrastructure investment. It contributes technical input to EU policy processes, including implementation of key directives like the Drinking Water Directive and the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive. WAREG aims to ensure transparent, independent, and evidence-based regulation that protects consumers and promotes resilient water services across Europe. It also fosters dialogue with EU institutions and stakeholders to support effective and coherent water policies.
