Humane World for Animals Europe (formerly called Humane Society International/Europe (HSI)) addresses the most deeply entrenched forms of animal cruelty and suffering. As a leading voice in the animal protection space, we work to end the cruelest practices, care for animals in crisis and build a stronger animal protection movement. Driving toward the greatest global impact, we aim to achieve the vision behind our name: a more humane world.

HSI was established as a legal entity in Belgium in October 2014. On 14th February 2025, we changed our name globally to Humane World for Animals to better convey the broad focus of our work to end animal cruelty and suffering across many species and geographies. The legal name change has also been made in Belgium. Our programme and lobby activities remain the same.
