Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is Canada's largest single-profession pension plan. We pay pensions and invest plan assets on behalf of 343,000 working and retired teachers. Since our establishment in 1990, we have built an international reputation for innovation and leadership in investment management and member services. Our investment program has one goal: to earn the best possible returns, at an appropriate level of risk, to pay pensions to our members. Our objectives are twofold: 1) To maximize investment returns at an appropriate level of risk, considering pension liabilities (the cost of future pension benefits) and the challenges presented by the plan's mature membership demographics; 2) To close the gap between asset values and pension obligations, which is the best way to achieve contribution rate and benefit stability for members.
